Marvin K. Smith, MD

Dr. Marvin K. Smith is a Sports Medicine Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Memorial Sports Medicine Center. He cares for patients with injuries and concerns regarding the shoulders, knees, hips, elbows and ankles. This includes athletes of all levels, from professionals to those who pursue sports for recreation.

Dr. Smith was a high school and Division-I collegiate student athlete who played football for Central Michigan University. He always appreciated the work of orthopaedic surgeons who specialized in sports medicine, and knew he wanted to join the field and help athletes pursue or continue to live out their dreams.

“As a former athlete, I can relate to the concerns of my patients,” he said. “I take the time to understand their unique situation as well as their goals, and I am sensitive to the recovery timelines many of them face.”

In addition to caring for individual patients, Dr. Smith is also involved in providing care for sports teams and athletic programs. As a resident physician/fellow he has previously cared for student athletes at the University of Miami , University of Virginia as well as the Miami Marlins MLB team. Currently, Dr. Smith serves as Team Physician for Florida National University, Florida Memorial University, ASA College and is the supervising physician for House of Athlete and the 2021 NFL Combine class.
